Snot Snot and More Snot

Saturday, April 18th, 2009

Ezra’s had a cold, or some other sort of respiratory virus, for a week or so. He had a couple of days where he was really lethargic and sleepy, and then the snot machines were turned on. He’s always got snot on his face somewhere, either in the form of a weird crusty dried on booger that lodged itself into his eyebrow while he was sleeping, to a slightly tacky stripe of snot that he smeared onto his own cheek while attempting to wipe his own nose, to the twin rivulets that issue forth from his nostrils at many many many points during the day. A good thing is that Ezra has learned that when he wants someone to wipe the snot off his face, all he has to do is say “nose nose nose” and we know to track down a snot rag of some sort. I’m hoping that with the nicer weather we’re having and with the extra sleep he’s been getting, he will be snot-free for Monday, when he goes back to playcare after a week’s vacation.

The Golden Goose?

Thursday, September 25th, 2008

He sounds like a Golden Goose.  Ezra’s sore throat has goose like sounds flowing forth from Ezra when he laughs or cries. As -v- has said, he sounds like a kid losing voice because of puberty when he makes talkie sounds. He  sounded like he was coughing up a golden egg during Monday when coughing. Now a cough sounds like a cough. The cough has subsided. The snot, too.

I find the goose sounds he makes cute, but it is caused with coughing and snot, so I hope the goose sounds and the golden goose gone, so his playful talking, laughing and crying may return us Golden Pig.

Snot Falls From Ezra’s Nose

Monday, September 22nd, 2008

Ezra has begun Fall with a slight fever and a runny nose. The runny nose is what kept him awake last night. And it will be the runny nose that will keep him up tonight. I can’t wait until he can feel comfortable both with breathing through his mouth and blowing his nose, but until then there will be a few more long nights of Ezra waking with a nose to stuffed with snot.

Sleepless In…

Tuesday, June 24th, 2008

Last night Ezra slept most the night only waking a few times for a few minutes to cry and shout. He woke long enough to wake -v- and me, so we would go check on him only to find he had returned to sleep.

Tonight, I expect he will be up around midnight then again around three in the morning. We put him to bed around eight, and he woke three times since.

It took -v- and me sitting next to him, keeping him upright, while we watched Twin Peaks to get him to sleep longer than twenty minutes. Now that we are going to bed, I doubt that he will be sleeping much longer.

…Tired. We all are. Ezra as much as -v- and me. We all want sleep. We all want his stuffy snot filled nose to go away, so he can sleep through the night.

Stuffy Nose = Cranky, Sleepless Ezra

Monday, June 23rd, 2008

So on Saturday night, the longest night of the year, Ezra went to sleep late. Then he woke up a couple hours later crying loudly. And again a couple hours after that. The same thing happened Sunday night, and looks like it will happen again tonight. The main reason, I speculate, is Ezra’s stuffy nose.

This stuffy nose is sometimes a runny nose, which creates its own issues. But it is definitely a stuffy nose when he lies down. While he’s sleeping (or trying to sleep) he makes all sorts of noise with this stuffy nose - like a cross between an elephant and Kalab snoring. I think it makes it hard for him to sleep because he’s not fond of breathing through his mouth, and there’s too much snot in his nose.

I guess it’s just a cold? He’s in pretty good spirits when he’s awake during the day, which is good. There hasn’t been a fever yet either. To top it off, there might be some teething going on, because he’s also been drooling puddles all over the house. Whatever it is, I hope Ezra feels better soon!

Prince Ezra Sleeps

Thursday, February 14th, 2008

Some time during the past couple of days Ezra has been called Prince Ezra by -v- and I. I have been thinking this and calling him Prince Ezra for days. Days after needing to carry Prince Ezra around to prevent him from entering in to a fussy fit of snot and tears when X reason was causing Prince Ezra to be in a fussy fit of snot and tears. I have called him Prince Ezra after waking for the third or forth time during the night to try to calm a  crying and fussy Prince Ezra from calling out for his parents. I have called him Prince Ezra while he was sitting on his high chair throwing one toy after another on to the floor only wanting another toy to throw on the floor.

Now Prince Ezra sleeps. In fact, Prince Ezra may have gone back to the kingdom. His mood today is less Prince Ezra like and more like the Ezra I know and enjoy. The Ezra that doesn’t need to be attached to -v- or I to sleep, be calm, eat, sit, stand or exist. The Ezra that sleeps through most of the night. The Ezra that wakes with loud talking noises and not loud screams and shouts. The Ezra that smiles more than frowns.  The Ezra that sleeps through most the night for more than one night.

Only time will tell if Prince Ezra is truly gone. Even if Prince Ezra returns, I will love him all the same as I love Ezra. I am after all King.

The Snottiest Nose EVER!

Friday, January 25th, 2008

The Snottiest Nose EVER! could be a reaction to the teething of teeth pushing through his gums making a very snotty nose The Snottiest Nose EVER! The root cause or causes are not known, but he now has a cold and teething and The Snottiest Nose EVER!

The Snottiest Nose EVER! creates long streams of snot and snot that rolls into baby boogers when it is wiped off.

Ezra has had stuffy noses and very snotty noses. There has been lots of snot sucking during the past like there has been the past couple of days, but there really has never been this almost instant manifestation of snot that coats his nose and upper lip and some times his cheeks. It’s this snot that when wiped rolls in to baby boogers. It is this snot that makes this The Snottiest Nose EVER!
