Oh…The Binky

Sunday, September 12th, 2010

Yes, Ezra still has the binky at night when he sleeps.

…Binky…

Monday, August 16th, 2010

Yes, Ezra still has the binky. He does use it less than he used it before he was three. No longer can he just have it in his room. He can only have it when he sleeps at night. It was a compromise that is preventing chaos and sleeplessness. I am not sure what to do beyond continually talking to him about it, and then one day soon taking it from him and listen to hours of him crying himself to sleep for his, ,,BINKY!” But I think that is what needs to be done. I am willing to do it, but may need a few days rest after he has kicked the binky habit and gone binky sober.

Binky Negotiations

Sunday, August 1st, 2010

I have begun binky negotiations with Ezra today after many days of his insistence that he will not be giving-up his binky when he is three. Of course, negotiating with a soon-to-be three year old is more or less useless, but I do feel he is beginning to come to a realization that his binky time will be much less as soon as he turns three.

I can only hope I have the resolve to sit through all Ezra’s fussing for the binky after he is three and all the agreements of the negotiations become reality.

Binky Until 5?

Tuesday, July 20th, 2010

I asked Ezra if he is ready to give-up his binky when he is 3, and he replied he will be ready when he is 5.

The Fucking Binky

Monday, July 19th, 2010

If tonight was any preview of what is to come when Ezra is three years old and Ezra has been told he will need to give-up the binky then there will be lots of crying and fussing, which will likely result in Ezra not giving up his binky when he is three.

Ezra’s Having A Binky Break

Tuesday, June 15th, 2010

He’s upstairs now. He left after we finished are dinner. He mumbled, ,,Have bink.” Then walk to his room. When I go to his room in a few minutes, I will likely find him on his bed, laying on back, starring at celing with bink in mouth. He will be calm and smiling. He will be relaxed.

We still remind him every day it will be taken when he is 3, and he will need to begin to stop using the binky even in his room. He is starting to get tense realizing he is nearly 3.

I am also getting tense at the thought of Ezra without his binky break.

Ezra’s Still Likes The Binky

Sunday, May 23rd, 2010

Ezra’s doing great with pooping and peeing in the potty, but not so great giving up the binky.

Ezra’s doing better with the binky. He does leave it in his room. He doesn’t complain about it remaining in his room. Ezra’s doing better with the binky, but I am still feeling a bit of the stress -v-, me and Ezra will feel during August after we take the binky away.

Ezra likes the binky when he sleeps or when he wants to relax in his room. He uses the binky to likely think and calm while alone. He uses it at times after he has had a fussy fit and didn’t get something he wanted, so he walks himself to room and has a few pulls on the Bink. The binky has the nickname Bink. But hopefully all this Bink Thought will end after a few weeks of withdrawals.

We will be taking the binky after he becomes three. We have been talking about this event with Ezra for months now. He says he is ready. He says he will be willing to give it up, and I am sure he will be able to let the binky go, but I do know how much he likes his Bink, so I know it will be a stressing time for all, but for Ezra it will be a straining, too.

,,I need to use my bink,” says Ezra.

Monday, February 15th, 2010

So…Ezra is still liking the binky no matter how much we want the binky be gone. He asks for it as if it is a fix of something needed to sustain life. He has been better of being without it if he is not bored or stressed. He forgets that he thinks he needs it then stressed or bored and says, ,,I need to use my bink.” …The bink is the nickname of the binky. …The bink needs to go. We will be getting rid of it when he turns three as we tell him everyday. Then I can only hope it will be gone once and for all. He’s beginning to be able to speak with the bink all too well. Maybe he will be a ventriloquist?

Santa Is Not Coming Here

Thursday, December 24th, 2009

Ezra has told me, ,,Santa is not coming here.” He told me this while we went to his room to search for his binky and after I told him that Santa would give him a wonderful, great toy if he gave-up his binky. We found the binky. He took it, and said no more about Santa. And I realize why does Ezra need Santa when he has his binky and a loving, extended family?

A Binky Lost. A BINKY FOUND!

Saturday, October 10th, 2009

There was a binky incident after Ezra’s last known binky was damaged beyond use by Ezra’s sucking and chewing on binky. The binky had holes, so we took the binky from Ezra, so he wouldn’t chew of the nipple and swallow it. And we cut the nipple off the binky, and Ezra found some comfort in holding the binky with the nipple cut until bed time. It was during bed time the fussing began. Then by chance and some looking around Ezra’s room -v- found another binky that had been lost months ago, so Ezra has a binky to sleep.

Putting The Binky In The Pocket

Friday, September 11th, 2009

His new thing is now wanting a binky in his pocket. ,,Put the binky in the pocket,” he says. He says this even if he is wearing only a diaper like this morning. And it was this morning when I realized his binky addiction won’t be going away anytime soon because now he has a place for his binky, so he can pull it out when he needs a moment of the binky. I only hope he doesn’t want us to begin rolling up his binky with sleeve of his shirt like a pack of smokes.

Ezra’s Fallen Off The Binky Wagon

Sunday, August 2nd, 2009

All the progress Ezra had on resisting the addiction to the binky has been regressed. In fact, Friday, Ezra was fussing for not having two binkies while running around the house.

Where once he would put his binky on the dresser before leaving his room, he now sneaks it out not wanting to let it go. Now he wants it all the time.

-v- suspects a new girl and his new friend at playcare who is a bit older than Ezra and has two binkies throughout the playcare day is making it hard for Ezra to quit the binky.

Whatever the reason, we get to hear, ,,Binky, binky, binky, binky…” periodically through the day. And now we understand less of what Ezra says because it is stuffed with a binky.

Bedroom Binky

Tuesday, June 30th, 2009

Ezra has went from fussing and screaming for binky to giving the binky to -v- or me when we leaving his room where the binky now remains.

He does need to go up to his room on occasion to have a binky break. He does talk about his binky, but he no longer gets lost in a binky fit.

It feels that the addiction to binky is waning. Of course, the real challenge and tension will be when we take away his binky from his room, from him.

Hear No Binky. See No Binky

Monday, June 22nd, 2009

,,Binky, binky, binky, binky, binky, binky, binky, binky, binky, binky, binky, binky, binky, binky, binky, binky, binky, binky, binky, binky, binky, binky, BINKY, BINKY, BINKY, BINKY, BINKY, BINKY, BINKY! BINKY! GIVE ME MY BINKY!!!” said Ezra many times tonight.

He wanted his binky tonight, but the last binky remains in his room and doesn’t leave because it is the last binky. So it was, ”Binky, binky, binky, binky, binky, binky, binky, binky, binky, binky, binky, binky, binky, binky, binky, binky, binky, binky, binky, binky, binky, binky, BINKY, BINKY, BINKY, BINKY, BINKY, BINKY, BINKY! BINKY! GIVE ME MY BINKY!!!” just about every other moment we were not in his room.

Food and making his imaginary farm were the few times he didn’t say binky when not in his room. When in his room, he got his binky, so his mouth was stuffed with a binky, so he couldn’t say, ”Binky.”

Still Sucking on the Binky

Monday, May 18th, 2009

Sometimes if I ask for binky. He will give me his binky, but only when he needs to rest his mouth.

He asks for it when waking up; when he can’t find it; when I cause him stress.

He needed it last night when he didn’t want to go to bed, but it was time for him to sleep. He may need the binky for the next molar coming in.

I say to Ezra, ,,I can’t understand what you are saying,” when I can’t understand what he is saying because he has a binky in mouth. I am hoping to convince Ezra to take the binky out of mouth when he is talking, so i can understand what he says. Of course, I reason maybe his ability to talk with binky in mouth will help him become a ventriloquist good enough to earn a living.

,,Binky, binky, binky…”

Friday, May 8th, 2009

Ezra didn’t have his binky for playcare today, so he had to borrowed the only infant’s binky to calm him to nap. Ezra didn’t have his binky during the drive from daycare, so he sucked on his fingers. Ezra didn’t have his binky for a few seconds after waking this morning, so he wokeup like he was waking from a nightmare saying, ,,Binky, binky, binky…” Ezra didn’t have his binky after going outside, so the first thing he did once inside was go find his binky.
