I Felt Nervous And A Bit Awkward At The Playdate

Monday, January 24th, 2011

We had the playdate with Ezra’s preschool friends. It was my first play date. I feel I may have been the only one feeling a bit awkward as I didn’t know what the parents did during a playdate for the kids. So, I sat with the other parents in the room where the kids were playing. I sat and drank my tea. The parent talk began, and I listened and nodded and tried to fit in, and the kids were playing and having fun, and then the awkward feeling lessened. It seemed the awkward feelings did not exist for Ezra or the other kids. Of course, they have had playdates before.

Will He Still Like Me?

Tuesday, November 9th, 2010

He watches an episode of Bob The Builder, which will be his last of the shows he may watch today.

So far, the time with Ezra has been good. He even said he wasn’t going to be rude to me today, and that it wasn’t nice of him to be mean to me yesterday (which is probably something he reasoned after talking with -v-). And he said he liked me. We talked during the drive home. He has ate the waffels I made him from dinner, but the true test his mood and his like of me is when he is no longer entertained by the shows and wants more.

Teaching Ezra To Spit

Thursday, June 10th, 2010

As a father, I feel obligated to teach Ezra to spit, but so far he hasn’t mastered spitting toothpaste despite all the practice. He can get the spit out of the mouth put he needs to learn how to use gravity to pull the spit down.

Ezra’s First Toothpaste Spit

Wednesday, February 10th, 2010

YES! That is correct. A major show of growth and development occurred tonight after brushing teeth: Ezra spit out his toothpaste bubbles. Not all of the toothpaste bubbles were spit out, but some. This was exciting to all including Ezra because Ezra has been trying to spit toothpaste out of mouth like mom and dad since tooth brushing began.

,,I’m Almost Done.”

Saturday, November 7th, 2009

Last night, Ezra said, ,,I’m almost done,” every time after giving a book to -v- to read from a big stack of books. This morning he said, ,,I’m almost done,” after driving every car of cars from the main living area to the red room then parking the car in a row of cars as -v- waited for Ezra, so they could go get coffee and read a book. Both times he was done when all the books were read and all the cars were park, so at least he knows when he is done if not knowing what almost means, but I suppose this could be my fault because I do say, ,,I’m almost done,” at times when I’m not almost done.

There Is No Decision Chart For A Two Year Old

Wednesday, October 14th, 2009

Today it took some topical cream in Ezra’s bum, two diapers changes to find the right diaper Ezra wanted, reading three books, playing with his trucks, fussing it out for a few minutes, then another diaper change for the diaper he selected, then have -v- and meĀ  help build a car garage, then he was near happy. To get him finally out the door, it took him looking at a big book with stickers in the book and getting a sticker of a transport truck stuck to his favorite John Deer tractor t-shirt, which he had been wearing since yesterday, but this morning was no morning to ask him to take off his favorite shirt and put on a new shirt.

Preschool!

Wednesday, September 30th, 2009

I was just informed today that Ezra will be transferring over to the preschool on Monday!!! When I found out, I sort of felt nervous, the way I did when it was the first day of school. But I don’t think Ezra will really be too nervous. He has to go to a new place, but all his friends are coming with him! I’ll have to remember to stop saying “playcare” and start saying “playschool”
