Swine Flu Shot

Wednesday, November 18th, 2009

Ezra got one of two swine flu shots today. He needs to go back during December to get two of two, but we won’t talk about that until then because Ezra didn’t like the shot much. -v- did say that Ezra didn’t cry and only crinched when the shot was given.

Unleaded Ezra

Thursday, May 22nd, 2008

Ezra had a lead test during his 9 month doctor checkup. With all the toxins in the world and lead tainted toys being sold, it is relieving and comforting to write that Ezra has a lead rating of 1, which is normal and far below the rating of 10 (above 10 is not normal).

It is another childhood danger -v- and I have protect Ezra against.

Now we can focus on protecting him from knives, fire, toxins, claws, cars, psychos…

From Laying Stomach, Sitting Upright

Thursday, March 13th, 2008

While Ezra has yet to perfect his crawling technique, he has perfected his technique from laying flat on his stomach to sitting upright. This is no small feat because it took him a time to learn to sit upright, and it took him a time to lift up his chest with his arms. AND it took him a time to roll over. All these techniques are used as he lifts his chest off the ground with arms, swings a leg around (like he is rolling over) and plants his bottom on the ground and lifts his torso upright with arms and chest. He has become so good at this sitting upright technique that he can move across the floor by laying on stomach and sitting upright, laying on the floor, sitting upright, laying on the floor, sitting upright, etc…

Spit-up and Drool Has Returned!

Friday, February 1st, 2008

Ezra has returned to his normal fluid output, which means lots of drool and some spit-up. And the diarrhea has almost been pooped out! AND the rash that was developing is fading to normal skin color, so when I changed his diaper tonight I got the usual smiling and kicking instead of screaming and crying of a rash.

Of course, now Valerie and I are getting over having a touch of the stomach flu like sickness Ezra had. We also found out that at the same time Ezra was vomiting that another fellow daycare friend was vomiting for similar reasons, so the vomit and diarrhea seems to be another daycare contracted sickness.

Four Shots!

Friday, October 12th, 2007

No, Ezra wasn’t shooting alcohol or heroin, he was getting some of his immunization shots earlier today.

Ezra went to visit the doctor today, and I have been told by -v- (who was told by the doctor) that Ezra is a healthy boy. A boy that is tall for his age. A boy that didn’t cry like a baby when he had a needle jabbed into both his thighs twice!

As a result of the shots, Ezra has been feeling a bit sore, but we got him a prescription of Baby Tylenol which seems to take the edge off.

He is now sleeping after a day of smiling and looking around.

…After Week of Zantac For Ezra.

Thursday, September 27th, 2007

Today, so far, Ezra purged very little spit up.

This week Ezra has been less fussy. Ezra now shows few of the mannerisms and movements we once attributed to reflux. Best of all, the amount of spit up and amount of spit up has decreased. There were days when he’d only have one big spit up during the day. There were days when he seemed to be a cottage cheese factory due to the amount and digestive state of the spit up. But overall things are improving.

While we have been giving him his baby Zantac everyday twice a day, the cause for this apparent reflux cure could be attributed to -v- and I holding him upright for a half hour after each feeding. And -v- has stopped drinking caffeine and restricted the amount of dairy products (including cheese!) consumed, which has been suggested as possible actions a breast feeding mom can take to help a baby with reflux.

Is Zantac working? I don’t know. Diagnosing cause and cure isn’t always easy. I only know he appears to exhibit less of the symptoms of reflux, which makes Ezra happy, and Ezra happy is much better than Ezra unhappy.
