Ezra’s New Year’s Resolutions

Wednesday, January 2nd, 2008

Does Ezra have resolutions for this new year, 2008? I asked him yesterday, and he didn’t have much to say, because he was chewing on the thumb and forefinger of his left fist. Maybe he wants to resolve to make a greater effort to stick his whole fist in his mouth. Or perhaps he would like to challenge himself to only one change of clothes per day. Perhaps he is hoping to try some new foods. Whatever he might be thinking about New Year’s Resolutions, I hope that one of his resolutions isn’t “become completely unphotogenic and boring so people will stop taking pictures of me” because that would be bad news for me and the grandmas.

If one of your resolutions was to look at more pictures of babies, or you were hoping for a 2007 retrospective of Ezra in pictures, you’re in luck! I just uploaded 100 pictures featuring Ezra (there’s maybe another 5 that feature him only indirectly) to Picasa:

Check back every few months for more pictures - I might just get around to uploading with more frequency because lots of people keep asking to see more pictures. Maybe they don’t really mean it, but just in case…

Ezra’s First Christmas

Wednesday, December 26th, 2007

Christmas with Ezra meant more presents for me…to open. He’s still a little too uncoordinated to open his own gifts, so I served as unofficial gift-opener yesterday. He got some new toys (to put in his mouth), and some new books (to put in his mouth), and only a couple little outfits (to put in his mouth) (Some family members want Ezra to be a 49ers fan…but that ain’t gonna happen - he’s already got his own cheesehead!). He did show some interest in some of the wrapping paper, but only so much as it was something else to put in his mouth.

Ezra showed a lot of interest in the tree with all the ornaments and lights - though he was always kept far enough away so that he couldn’t pull anything off and put in his mouth.

Ezra Tree and Me

Golden Pig Tattoos

Wednesday, November 28th, 2007

As if -v- and I haven’t done enough to create reasons for Ezra to be embarrassed to be our child when he becomes a teenager, -v- and I are now talking of getting Golden Pig Tattoos.

The Golden Pig Tattoos will be matching only in the outline of the Golden Pig. What’s inside the Golden Pig will be different. The placement where we like.

Right now I see my Golden Pig Tattoo on my left deltoid. Inside will be ē’zē ō in thug script (also known and Celtic script). Around the symbols ē’zē ō and inside the outline of the Golden Pig will be golden and red colors.

Grandmothers Are Better Than Daycare.

Wednesday, October 31st, 2007

It felt weird leaving Ezra at daycare. More weird than I thought it would feel. Last week Ezra was left with Grandma O. That didn’t feel weird. And I didn’t think about it a lot during the day. Today, I can’t stop thinking of Ezra being in a room full of kids and being with some one who is not family. While daycare appears to be safe, organized and friendly, grandmothers are still better, less weird feeling.

It’s Pronounced Ä“’zÄ“ ō

Tuesday, October 30th, 2007

For those not of the techno or hip-hop generation, and to prevent any future confusion of people wanting to hang with EZ-O and not act the fool, it’s pronounced Ä“’zÄ“ ō  or like ‘easy oh’.

My mom, EZ-O’s Grandma O, who is like me is know for occasionally mispronouncing monikers and acronyms, seemed to have some difficulty finding the right sonic flow when  trying to hang with EZ-O.

Of course, I do kind of like EZ-O pronounced like Ä›z’ ō, and I think Ezra did, too, so maybe a grandma is right again?

We’re Back!

Thursday, October 11th, 2007

Ezra and I got back last night from our fun trip to Wisconsin. I had the best baby on the plane on the way there, and on the way back! He was so well behaved and calm - I was so proud of my baby! Here are a few thoughts on the trip:

In Wisconsin, everyone was excited to meet the baby Ezra, and he made sure to be on his best behaviour to impress them all. He met great aunts and uncles, second cousins, and a whole mess of other relatives and relatives of relatives. But the best part of the whole trip was Ezra meeting his great-grandpa T, who told me that Ezra is the first of his 5 great-grandchildren (all girls) that he’s gotten to hold. (This made me cry!) Is this not the happiest picture?

Great Grandad and EzraI now am on a mission to find a pair of little baby striped bib overalls for Ezra. Apparently I had a pair when I was like, 1 or 2, which my mom has stashed away somewhere.

Ezra might like to travel, but I think only when he’s on his meds. He was very easygoing and relaxed, even when we were dragging him halfway across the state and back three times a day. He had only one day where he was at all fussy, and that was the day we didn’t go anywhere! In order to ensure that the good times lasted the whole trip, I had to go to the pharmacy while I was there and get a refill of the baby Zantec, which ran out on Sunday. For future reference, check the amount of medicine you have for the baby a couple days before you leave and make sure you have enough to last the whole trip!

At the airport on the way back, we had another occurrence of the poo Explosion! I was carrying him through the terminal in the baby bjorn, and we got to the gate and I decided to change him before we would get on the plane. I went to the women’s restroom to use the diaper change station. I did not go in well-prepared for the Explosion that greeted me - he had poo up to his neck! So I tried to tidy him up a bit, but had to pack him up and go back to the gate to finish because he needed a change of clothes. So I get him clean, fix his diaper, change his clothes, and am very relieved, when what do you think might happen? Of course - more poo! So I had to change the diaper again. While there was no explosion of poo, it did rise up the back a little, necessitating more clean up. I think my previous hypothesis about the baby bjorn being behind (hee hee!) the poo explosion is still plausible, I also think that the poo explosions may be the result of Ezra being too big for his britches. It seems like he’s maybe grown out of the size 1 pampers…which sucks, because I have like, 150 of them left!

All in all, it was a great trip, but we did miss daddy : )
