Dressing

Friday, February 11th, 2011

Ezra was happy to show me, and I was happy to see, that Ezra can now dress himself! YES! I feel like a competent parent even though all the credit goes to -v- for convincing Ezra he is a big enough kid to dress himself and then patiently help him through the process, so Ezra doesn’t get discouraged by a twisted sleeve or a rolled strap.

Fashion Show

Ezra got some cloths from Grandma O today. Ezra wanted to wear them all as we pulled them from box. The fire engine shirts, the Lighting McQueen (of the movie Cars) pajamas and shirts. He could barely wait for the cloths to be washed. But he did wait, and we reminded him when he didn’t want to take a bath that he could put on one of the new shirts after the bath, so then he was happy to take a bath. And then after the bath Ezra was excited to wear the shirts. It did take us putting on and taking off three shirts until he calmed down for the one he wore tonight for sleep and the one he will likely be wearing tomorrow for playcare. The shirt has fire trucks.

No, Mama Do It

Sunday, June 28th, 2009

The easiest way to get Ezra to change his diaper or put on shorts or take off shorts or shirt, socks, shoes without fuss is for me ask Ezra if I could change or put on his article of clothing with the article of clothing in hand. He will then grab the article of clothing and say, ,,No, mama do it.” Ezra will then allow -v- to change or put on the article of clothing, and he won’t fuss.

This has been a fail proof method that works even when -v- has tried to put or change an article of clothing and gets a fussy reaction from Ezra. All I need to do is take the article of clothing from -v- and say, ,,Ezra can I put on your shirt?” Then Ezra will take the cloth of article from me and say, ,,NO, Mama do it,” and then give the article of clothing to -v- and let her change or put it on without fuss.

I don’t know why this is. -v- and I suspect it could be what seems to be some competition between he and I for -v-.

The Diaper Was Thrown Down….

Thursday, June 11th, 2009

Like the a gauntlet thrown down, -v- tossed the diaper she tried to put on a mad fussin’ Ezra. Then she exhaled the tension from body and laid backed. And the diaper seemed to float for a second before it landed on the floor. Ezra won the strike, but not the duel of diaper and pants. He left for play care wearing diaper and pants.
