Jaws Donut

Thursday, August 20th, 2009

It started in the tubbie. I was playing with Ezra’s new shark bath toy and having the shark go through the water and end up nibbling on Ezra’s toes. During the approach I was making like the sound of the theme song for Jaws. I didn’t have it quite right, but it was close. Anyway, Ezra really likes this game and always makes me play for longer than I think is fun. But then tonight he asked for “mas donut” while we were playing the shark game, and I thought he wanted a donut. But no! He was refering to the sound I made in place of the Jaws theme music - duh-nuh……..duh-nuh….duh-nuh..duh-hun..duh-nah-nah! I guess maybe it does sound a lot like donut when I do it. I hope I’ve not lead Ezra to think that sharks like donuts. Although maybe they do?

Bubble

Monday, March 23rd, 2009

Ezra’s addicted to bubble baths. He had another tonight to feed his addiction. This addiction has been since his first bath in the tub and not that baby tub. Now he can’t get enough of bubble baths. He talks about wanting what he calls, ,,Bubble,” during the mornings, during the noontime and always at night. ,,Bubble, bubble,” he says more than a few times a day. Now it has become a ritual, which isn’t too bad because it is makes him happy and clean.

Splish Splash!

Ezra finally got into the bathtub for his bath! With no tears or fears! We’ve been trying for weeks to get Ezra to take a bath in the normal tub, as opposed to the infant/toddler tub he’s used since birth, which is now totally too small. Ezra looks like a giant when he’s in that bathtub. Anyway, tonight I enticed him into the real tub with bubbles, toys, and my own two feet. I had to get a little wet in the process, but it was worth it to finally get him in the tub where he can stretch out. And now I can stop trying to clean that stupid infant/toddler tub with all the crevices and odd shapes where dirty water pools up and gets yucky.  Next goal: overpower the fear of the shower!

Tub Omen

Tuesday, February 3rd, 2009

Tonight we tried giving Ezra a bath in the tub and not just his mini-tub. If -v- and I were believers in omens, we would have read the fact Ezra had a poop in his diaper before the bath that then smeared on -v-’s pants as an omen of the fussiness to come.

Pretty much immediately he was adverse to the idea of getting into the tub even though the water wasn’t that deep. After a few minutes of him refusing to get in we pulled out his mini-tube and began to fill it with water. He was more than happy to stand in his mini-tub and play with the water as it came out of the spout. During the water filling stage Ezra lifted up the knob on the tub spout thereby making the shower head spray water on -v- and Ezra. This freaked Ezra out, and by this time all hope was lost for a full bath, so we hurried and cleaned him as best we could and got him dry and in is pajamas. Maybe next bath time we will be more successful with bathing Ezra in the big tub, or maybe his is not ready.

Hatin’ The Bath

Tuesday, December 30th, 2008

There is no love between Ezra and the bath. He fusses just to get his feet in the water and then he locks his legs making them stiff as boards. If a touch of preasure is applied at his leg joints to help him sit in the bath, he freaks and does a splashing dance.

It is unknown why Ezra has lost the love of the water. It has been this way for the past couple of weeks. Before the two weeks he would love to bath, but now…Now he stands and fusses and gets water everywhere but on is body.
