Ezra’s Farts Stink

Monday, May 31st, 2010

Ezra has had a stomach sickness during the past couple days that he got from preschool. We were forewarned of the possibility of Ezra catching the stomach sickness, so we weren’t freaked out like we were years ago when he got stomach sickness, and we are not new parents. This time there was some sleeplessness, lots of changing of cloths and washing of sheets and blankets after a vomiting. Ezra has slept a little more. He’s been fussy, and the binky has been stuck to his face for most of the past two days. Now he is recovering and nearing back to his normal self. I did happen to notice, because it was hard not to, that his farts are stinky manly farts. When I smelled one he let loose earlier today while watching Monster Truck Videos, I was both disgusted at the smell and proud.

My boy can create a stink like me :)

to come home! I really missed him and kalab and the cats.

We have been having a lot of fun Together ever since.

Ezra’s Still Likes The Binky

Sunday, May 23rd, 2010

Ezra’s doing great with pooping and peeing in the potty, but not so great giving up the binky.

Ezra’s doing better with the binky. He does leave it in his room. He doesn’t complain about it remaining in his room. Ezra’s doing better with the binky, but I am still feeling a bit of the stress -v-, me and Ezra will feel during August after we take the binky away.

Ezra likes the binky when he sleeps or when he wants to relax in his room. He uses the binky to likely think and calm while alone. He uses it at times after he has had a fussy fit and didn’t get something he wanted, so he walks himself to room and has a few pulls on the Bink. The binky has the nickname Bink. But hopefully all this Bink Thought will end after a few weeks of withdrawals.

We will be taking the binky after he becomes three. We have been talking about this event with Ezra for months now. He says he is ready. He says he will be willing to give it up, and I am sure he will be able to let the binky go, but I do know how much he likes his Bink, so I know it will be a stressing time for all, but for Ezra it will be a straining, too.

Fire Engine Cake For Ezra’s Third Birthday

Saturday, May 22nd, 2010

Ezra likes cake making videos. One of his favorite videos of cake making is a video of two people making a fire engine cake. I think we will be making him a fire engine cake for his birthday.

Welcome Home Mom

Tuesday, May 18th, 2010

Ezra welcomed -v- home last night by waking her twice. Once because he wanted the hall light on. Once because he needed to go pee. It was the first time since -v- left on her trip that Ezra woke at night.

Thirteen

Monday, May 17th, 2010

Ezra loves to count and counts objects out loud often. After thirteen and beyond twenty it is only a matter of interest of how much he will count. He is beginning to understand the concept of decimal. And counts high. But he needs to use the number 13. There is something about thirteen Ezra doesn’t want to count. It’s not like he skips twenty-three or thirty-three or forty-three. Or three. And he does say trece when counting Spanish, but not thirteen when counting English. I have do make him stop to say thirteen. And he stops and says it, but then his count thought is sometimes interrupted and all the number get jumbled until twenty.

Clifford The Big Read Dog and Caillou

Thursday, May 13th, 2010

Ezra’s audio and video entertainment these past weeks as been mostly Clifford the Big Red Dog  and episodes of Caillou. On average he watches three a day for a total of twenty seven minutes of commercial-free audio and video entertainment, which pacifies him for enough time to get ready for work or sit and be mindless after work or to slow the many questions of why for a few minutes.

Happy Mother’s Day!!!

Monday, May 10th, 2010

We had such a nice day of sharing and loving and bagels with cream cheese yesterday for mother’s day! We had some guests over for breakfast and then had a nice time outside at the park. I got some beautiful cards and lots of hugs and kisses. It was a great mother’s day and it lasted up until Ezra decided that he’d maybe reached his maximum capacity of goodness, because he had a nice little tantrum in the car after our nice dinner out at the end of the day. But at least I got most of mother’s day free from the terrible twos!

Ezra Is Driving My Car

Monday, May 10th, 2010

He drives by flipping lever, switches and pressing buttons and trying to turn the steering wheel and move the gear shift of my car, the car that doesn’t move because I don’t drive it. Ezra was standing on seat and out window a few minutes ago. He was ejecting the tape and turning the knobs of the radio. We are driving my car, and driving my car is Ezra’s new favorite thing.

I don’t know where we are going. We haven’t moved, but we sure seem to have gone somewhere.

Ezra May Have Mastered The Scoot Bike

Saturday, May 8th, 2010

I am a typical dad, so I realize the statement that Ezra may have mastered the scoot bike could be that of a dad observing his son progressing beyond current popular culture values for variables to define what an above average intelligence and an above average athletic child able to learn to peddle a bike during his current age, but I believe it true.

Poop

Wednesday, May 5th, 2010

Poop is Ezra’s new favorite word judging by the amount of things that are poop or poopy. The stairs are some times poopy. The cats are sometimes poopy. Sometimes he talks about planes of poop. He likes to use the adjective poopy more than the noun poop, but really both are used a lot ever since he has been pooping in the potty. And always it is followed by a smile or a laugh because some how he finds poop and poopy funny, which it is when he says it, but I am the parent, so I can’t smile or laugh and I don’t.

-v- has been telling him that poopy and poop are words some people don’t like to hear, and that the words can be considered impolite. While I feel this is the best approach, I don’t know what else to do or say. I don’t want him talking about poop with everyone we meet, but I can’t get angry at him for using a word we have taught him. I suppose like pooping we need to now teach when and where and how and why to use the word poop.

Ezra Slow To Wake

Tuesday, May 4th, 2010

Ezra is slow to wake this morning. I have found it best to let Ezra slowly wake if he wants for like -v- he likes to wake at his own time when he is ready and gets upset and tells me to leave his room when I come into the room with happy-morning voice seeing if he is ready to get-up. -v- doesn’t like the happy-morning voice, too.
