23 Months Of Life…

Tuesday, July 7th, 2009

One month short of two, and Ezra is expressing himself like he is a teenager. He pushes me. He tells me no. He fusses if he doesn’t get what he wants. He is throwing things. He is wanting to go out when it is bedtime. He only wants to wear certain cloths. He is one month away from two. YAY! Happy birthday!

Attitude

Monday, July 6th, 2009

I bought Ezra an adidas track suit the other day at costco. It’s super stylin’ but we decided tonight that it gives Ezra a bit of a ‘tude. He got out of the car when we got home, and proceeded to throw a rock at the car. He threw something at me in the house. He got all snappy about his food. Maybe we can blame the track suit, or maybe he’s just testing boundaries and being a nearly two year old.

PS - I was impressed that Ezra slept through all the fireworks madness on Saturday night. I think it helped that it was super hot that day, and so we had all the fans on in his room creating a nice dull white noise that maybe drowned out the firework commotion.  Too bad none of that helped daddy sleep through the noise!

Ezra Plays With Self

Sunday, July 5th, 2009

Ezra’s playing with self right now. He’s playing with blocks on the steps. He is making his tow trucks and towers. He was playing with cars, trucks and tractors by making them a train.

I was playing with him for about a minutes, but he didn’t like the way I was driving the blue 2008 Mustang Hot Wheels car. He wanted to crash into the car with a HUGE Little Tikes safari truck. I drove around the safari truck avoiding the crash because my car became a plane and flew around. He fussed for a bit because  he wanted a crash, so we crashed cars, and then as quick as an accident happens my play time with Ezra was over as he drove his car away.

Ezra the driver

Friday, July 3rd, 2009

Ezra likes to pretend to drive things. He likes to sit in the driver seat of the car. He likes to steer the wheels on the playground equipment that look like steering wheels. Yesterday, we let Ezra ride one of those motorized things they have in malls. We were at the Fubonn shopping center, wasting time inside the air conditioning since it was super hot outside. We let Ezra sit on the mechanized bulldozer and the airplane. We got change, and Ezra got to pilot the airplane. He had such a good time he didn’t want it to stop, but 50 cents doesn’t get you very far these days.

The Ease Of Putting Ezra Down For A Nap

Friday, July 3rd, 2009

Unlike getting Ezra to go to sleep for the night, naps are events Ezra initiates like today he did today. Ezra walked up to me, grabbed my hand, said, ,,Daddy, night-night,” and we walked upstairs to his room where he fell asleep with no fuss, no tears, no calling for mom.

Return of Blue Berry Poop

Wednesday, July 1st, 2009

I could smell it. A smell from the past. I could see it as I peeled off the diaper. A pile of mushy poop that had the hue blue berries spread the scent reminding me of last blue berry season. It took eight wipes to clean the big circle of blue berry poop from Ezra. I still have the fumes of the blue berry poop in my nose. At least, I know it’s blue berry season again.
