Another Day With Ezra :)

Monday, December 8th, 2008

Ezra woke at 1:30. He probably had a nightmare or woke and felt too alone because all I need to do was wake and go into his room and talk with Ezra. After about thirty seconds he fell back asleep.

About 3:30, he woke me up because he was talking in his sleep or talking while sitting in his crib. It didn’t last, and I didn’t even need to leave the bed.

About 5:45, Ezra woke and began talking and talking and talking and talking until I went to his room and got him out of his crib. We then listened to his toy that plays a polyphonic version of Mozart’s Piano Sonata 15 while I changed his cloths. Then -v- and I feed him a snack before -v- and he went to playcare.

About 17:24, I arrived home to a happy Ezra who said, ,,Hi,” and walked to me and began talking words only he knows. From then on Ezra ruled the night. -v-, Ezra and I ate. We talked. We walked around and pointed at things. We play Crazy Fun Ball. We laughed and smiled until Ezra became tired and couldn’t run because he was too tired to step without falling.

Now he sleeps, and we are tired.

Happy 16 months!

Ezra is 16 months old today! Yay! Yay! Yay!

To celebrate, we went out and selected the finest of all douglas fir pine trees from the local fred meyers. Ezra seems a little perplexed as to why we have a tree inside our house.  Tomorrow we will set it up in the red room and decorate it with lights and other things, and he will probably be even more perplexed…

Water Artist

Thursday, December 4th, 2008

Ezra takes his sippy cup, turns it upside down and shakes out water on a plate or on top of his table. Then he slams an open palm in the spreading pool of water and watches the splash. Then this action is performed again until either there is no more water or inspiration has waned.

He also likes to take some of his food from his food plate and put it in an empty cup. Then he takes his sippy cup and shakes water from the sippy cup to the inside of the cup with food. He will then look inside the cup and reach inside mixing the food and water together. Most the time he is satisfied with leaving the mixture of Food Art and Water Art in the cup, but other times he wants to use a different canvas, so he spills the cup’s contents upon a flat surface allowing the food and water to flow and the art to spread.

At first, I would criticize his Water Art regardless if it was on his plate, his table or the floor. But now, after following the wisdom of -v-, I have chosen to limit my criticism of Ezra and only criticize his expression when his canvas is the floor.

Still awake

Wednesday, December 3rd, 2008

Ezra fell asleep in the car tonight on the way home at about 5:05pm. I took him out of the car when we got home at 5:25 and he was still asleep. I laid him on the floor where he slept some more. I thought maybe at 5:45 when Kalab got home that maybe Ezra would just go to bed for the night, because he was still asleep, but when I started taking off his shoes, he woke up. He was fussy for a little while until he got some dinner in him. We thought maybe he was ready for bed at about 8pm and I tried the usual walking/rocking/singing/back rub to get him to fall asleep. He wasn’t interested in sleep, only in play. It’s now 9:25 and Ezra is still awake, and crying because we’re trying to get him to go to sleep.

Dance Moves

Tuesday, December 2nd, 2008

When Ezra hears a tonal Mozart song of a toy, he claps and moves his chest. When he hears Johnny Cash or They Might Be Giants, he claps his hands, moves his chest and some times shakes a leg or shuffle steps. On a rare occasion he will do a step twirl. Whenever Ezra dances, he smiles.
