Minus One Tooth

Ezra fell down and went boom. He hit hard enough for a tooth to make a mark in the dresser and pop out of his head. Then came the blood and the screams of pain. Then came the confusion and the calling of 911 because he had fallen. Then came the ride to the emergency room. Then hours later everything was calm, and Ezra was missing a tooth. And -v- and I, as parents, were feeling worthless and deadbeat.

The tooth is one of his upper front teeth. The doctors and the dentist said that there was really nothing to worry about, and that everything else is A-OK. A new one will grow in place. But still…But still I feel bad that Ezra had the fall from such a height and that neither of us reacted quick enough to stop the fall.

I do rejoice in the fact a new tooth will grow in its place. I rejoice that nothing else is wrong. I rejoice because his smile is just as cute and adorable.
